How to Build a Business with 2 Hours Per Day

2 min readApr 24, 2025

I join Pat Wall’s free webinar.

I don’t know him until maybe last January when I discovered his videos on Youtube.

Since then, I follow his accounts, read blogs, look forward to weekly vids on Youtube.

And after the webinar, I’ve proven my assumptions about how he SIMPLY approach these 4 things in his business:

For context, Pat Walls is the founder of a $1M dollar business called Starter Story.

That also created more products like:
Lean SEO course
BHAG community
Newsletter

Through him I finally saw a founder that is not scaring people with jargons, strategies or licensing.

He really inspired me and his accomplishments gave me the confidence that I can do the same while still having my sanity.

Cause he does everything deliberately, starting from:

His Business dea

In one of his Youtube Shorts, he shared how we came up with a business idea. This is from “Hedgehog Concept”, he answered 3 things:

1. What are my skills?
2. What am I passionate about?
3. Can this idea make money?

There are ways to come up with business ideas that I read online (pain, own problems, desire), but this is one of the simplest and most efficient way that anyone can try.

How He Work

I adored him even more when I learned about his own story.

He set a contract(on paper), place(Startbucks), time(2hrs/day) for himself.

Deep Work + Consistency

As someone who lacks discipline and not sticking to anything I planned, this is what I practice now. No conditioning, no rituals, just do the work.

How He Post

When I adore someone, I really dive deep in their writings and work.

I scanned thru many personal brands on the internet but I see no one do the same as Pat’s.

He always share the:

- progress of what he is doing
- A/B testing + result of the testing
- asking his audience
- wins

He treats his socials as a diary and not ALWAYS to promote his business.

His Marketing Strategy

What I noticed that he always iterate, especially for his marketing strategy.

- Reddit helped him validate his business and bringing in his first large audience
- He learned SEO to access more audience
- Launched his newsletter
- Now he’s trying video content: Tiktok and Youtube

Marketing can be a daunting aspect of the biz but if you focus on one channel — test — iterate — scale — FIRST, you will be able to do over and over again.
